Tips to boost your summer
workout routine! |
|
Are you having a hard time
working out in the summer heat? Try these methods to make your summer
workout even more enjoyable:
- Time of day is very important when
exercising in the heat. The hottest time of day to exercise is between
10 am and 3 pm. Unless you are training for an athletic event that
takes place during these times, try working out in the early morning
or at night!
- Sunscreen, Sunscreen,
Sunscreen. If you are working out
during the day, be sure to apply a substantial amount of sunscreen to
prevent getting burnt during your workout. 45 SPF is recommended!
- Wearing light colored
clothing can also help deflect
the sun while you are working out! It is also recommended that you
wear cotton based clothing to help absorb sweat during your summer
workout routine.
- Choosing shaded trails or
paths/areas to complete your
workout routine will help keep you cool.
- STAYING HYDRATED is the most important
summer workout tip, this will prevent dehydration and fatigue. It is
recommended to drink two glasses of water before your workout and to
take a drink of water every 15 minutes during your workout, even if
you are not thirsty. After you finish your workout replenish yourself
with a few more glasses of water.
- Watching your body for signs of fatigue
and checking your local weather forecast before exercising is just as
important. Dehydration is serious and can cause nausea and fainting,
if you start to feel light headed stop your workout and drink more
water. Checking your local weather forecast for severe heat and
pollution warnings may be necessary to move your workout inside to
prevent damage to your body during your summer workout!
